To ensure sustainable growth and profitability in digital and green through the Social Innovation Business, Hitachi is undergoing a major transformation to establish a customer centric business model (incl. alignment of global processes and common digital tools).

One part of the transformation activities is the setup of a global Account management that represents Hitachi voice to targeted customers, fully understanding its needs while increasing Hitachi’s share of wallet.

The Sales Planning & Bid Specialist will be responsible to co-ordinate strategic pursuits & cross Business unit bids/estimations/quotations/terms & conditions based on customer specification or customer requirements/budget while maintain Hitachi Internal standards in order to achieve both market competitiveness and high margin for Hitachi in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

In addition to the above, the role will require controlled documentation of Account planning, player mapping, summarizing briefing documents for executive level meetings.

Your responsibilities

  • Formulating competitive bids/quotations, considering best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation

  • Ensuring tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs and risk assessment

  • Managing the preparation of all technical, financial and if necessary, project management aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions

  • Managing external services to support bid / estimation preparation such as translations and governmental approvals

  • Collecting and archiving documentation regarding the offer/order and record assumptions and decisions taken during the development

  • Contribute to an efficient and positive customer partnership throughout the sales process.

  • Review and report on tender results and identify areas for improvement to increase success rate.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in either Engineering or Business Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Tendering and Bidding

  • Strong negotiation skills, with a experience in dealing with complex legal bids and proposals

  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence both internally and externally

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Excellent reporting and documentation skills with the ability to translate details and actions into power point and account plans

  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills.

  • Willingness and openness to travel up to 15%

  • Cultural sensitivity and openness to work in an international business environment with experience in dealing with US customers across all time zones

  • Excellent English level. Japanese proficiency a great plus

For residents of California, New York City, and Washington State only, as required under applicable pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position if filled remotely is $102,000 - $116,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
